Payments & Payouts

How Blueground handles payments, payouts, and Tipalti

H1. How payments and payouts work

Blueground collects payment from guests and sends the corresponding payout to partners through Tipalti, our global payments platform.

What Blueground pays you

Your payout includes:

  • Rent
  • Any accommodation fees set on the listing (e.g., utilities, cleaning fee)
  • Taxes (as set on your PMS)
  • Security deposit (if collected by Blueground)

Minus the following:

  • Blueground's 7% commission
  • Any Blueground fees (e.g., service fee, rent installment fee, convenience fee, etc.)

How payouts are calculated

  1. The full booking value is collected from the guest.
  2. Blueground deducts:
    • 7% partner commission
    • Blueground fees
  3. Blueground sends the remainder to your Tipalti account.

For bookings longer than a month, payments are made monthly.

H2. How guests pay

Guests can pay for Blueground bookings by card or by bank transfer (available across our core markets).

The payment method makes no difference on your side: Blueground collects the payment, the booking is confirmed through the standard flow, and your payout follows the normal schedule regardless of how the guest paid. You don't need to configure anything to accept either method.

H3. When payouts are sent (payout schedule)

  • First payout: The first payout is the first Thursday that is at least 5 days after check-in.
  • For bookings that exceed one month, subsequent payouts follow at monthly intervals from this reference date, with payment days aligned to the closest Thursday.
  • Payout values: Each full month has the same amount. The last payout is proportional to the days in the partial month.
  • In case of an extension, the timeline is resetting based on the extension rate and the new move out date.

If a move-in does not occur

Partners must notify Blueground as soon as possible so payouts can be adjusted.

H4. What is Tipalti?

Tipalti is Blueground's global payments platform used for all partner payouts (except Turkey).

What Tipalti provides

  • Automated and secure payouts
  • Tax and regulatory compliance
  • Payment tracking and statements
  • Global multi-currency support
  • Reduced manual processing

Important

  • Blueground uses Tipalti for all partner payments. Alternative payout methods are not supported.
  • Payments in Turkey are processed manually via bank transfers.

H5. Setting up your payout account

Before Blueground can pay you, we need your bank and tax details. You provide these once, through our payments partner Tipalti, and then payouts happen automatically.

How to get there

Go to Settings → Payout Account in the Partner Portal. You can also reach it from:

  • the card on your dashboard
  • the prompt on your Bookings page
  • the link in the Listings imported or First booking email we send you

All of them open the same short setup form.

What you will need

  • Your bank account details for the country you are paid in
  • Your tax information (the exact form depends on your country — the setup will tell you which)
  • The legal name and address of the company or person being paid

What happens next

  1. When you first become eligible for a payout, we send you an invitation to complete setup.
  2. You fill in bank and tax details in the secure Tipalti form.
  3. Once complete, your payouts run automatically against the schedule shown on each booking.

If you see an alert badge

A badge on the dashboard or Bookings page means your payout setup is incomplete or something needs attention. Click it to reopen the form and finish. Until setup is complete, your payouts cannot be released — so it is worth doing as soon as you see it.

Where to see what you are owed

Each booking's Payout details section shows the amount, the due date, and the payment method for every scheduled payout.

Not seeing a payout section?

It appears once you have listings live and are eligible for payouts. If you have published listings and still cannot see it, contact partner-support@theblueground.com.

H6. Managing multiple bank accounts

Tipalti allows one bank account per Tipalti account, connected with a unique email address. If you need multiple bank accounts (e.g., different accounts for different properties):

Steps to set this up

  1. Prepare a spreadsheet including:
    • Each desired email account (unique per account)
    • Corresponding bank details
    • Listing IDs assigned to each account
  2. Send it to: partner-onboarding@theblueground.com
  3. Blueground will create separate Tipalti profiles and send invitation emails

This is the only supported way to use multiple bank accounts.

H7. In what currency will I be paid?

Partners are paid in the same currency that Blueground collects from the guest. To check the currency for a market, search on theblueground.com.

H8. Fees & payout timeline

Transaction & bank fees

Bank fees and card processing fees are automatically deducted as outlined in the Terms & Conditions.

Payout visibility timeline

Once Blueground sends the payout through Tipalti:

  • Funds typically appear in your bank account within 3–5 business days
  • Processing times vary by country and bank

H9. Invoices & who invoices whom

Blueground invoices partners

Partners invoice guests

Partners are responsible for invoicing guests for:

  • Rent
  • Accommodation fees
  • Taxes due to the partner

Invoice guests for the Total Accommodation Price — your rent, accommodation fees, and applicable taxes.

Do not invoice the Total Booking Value: it includes Blueground-side fees (such as the service fee) that are charged by and belong to Blueground — Blueground invoices those separately. Your payout equals your accommodation revenue minus the Blueground commission, so the accommodation price is the amount that corresponds to your revenue.

Blueground invoices guests for:

  • Blueground fees
  • Any associated bank charges

Partners should NOT invoice Blueground

Blueground does not accept invoices from partners for rent or surcharges.
